Golf Swing Tips
No matter if just begun to learn the game of golf, or if you're a
seasoned pro, you're bound to have a whole arsenal of golf swing tips
that swirl around your brain on any given golf day. Let's put
all those golf swing tips away just for now and get down to basics.
Where is your focus when hitting a golf ball? I know the
answer is simple. The golf ball, right? But a lot
of golfers let their focus wander. That wandering might be to the club
and back to the ball. Or, it may include a quick check of
your alignment. Big mistake.
There is also the tendency to loose focus when drawing the club head
back. Watch next time out and see if you do this.
If so, remind yourself to hold the head steady: complete
attention/focus on the golf ball.
When working on the backswing, many golfers pick up the bad habit of
turning the head (and thus eyes) to get some feedback on the position
of the club head and hands. Red Lights Flashing!!! Avoid this
or you'll never become a consistent golfer.
Now technically keeping a still head throughout the golf swing is an
impossiblity; the head will naturally move within the confines a
smooth, unifed golf swing. But make it goal to keep the head
steady and your focus upon the golf ball.
I have a trick I picked up from Tim Gallwey that helps me keep my head
still and smooth throught my swing: I softly hum. I
know it sounds nuts, but give it try. It helps prevent
tension and jerking the golf club through the swing: thus a steadier
head and a more consistent swing.
If you're at all passionate about the game of golf, I know you're
inunated with a ton of golf swing tips. But start with this
simple one (and proceed from there): head still, eyes on the golf ball.
